Keeping your carpet clean and beautiful.

Looking after your carpet
A carpet which is cared for regularly is a carpet which will look good for years to come.
The secret of a beautiful carpet

You should do the following at more or less regular intervals. Dust removal, cleaning, renovation.

This will help you to protect your carpet against abrasion and will slow down any change in its look due to recurrent dirtying.
This is caused by:

  • Airborne dust,
  • Particles bought in the soles of shoes, animals feet etc which are then transferred to and ground into the carpet,
  • Stains which adhere to the fibres.

Everyday maintenance

Dust removal
It is recommended you vacuum once a week. This is very important to help increase your carpet's lifespan.

You should use your vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment: this will lift the fibres and allow in depth cleaning. If the fibres are not regularly lifted, abrasive particles such as dirt and grit can become encrusted in the under surface the fibres may be cut by the edges of these particles.

Even with regular vacuuming, discolouration may appear in high traffic zones such as in the middle of corridors. There is more dirt in these zone than in others. Regular maintenance will give your carpet a real facelift by removing encrusted dirt and pepping up the fibres.

Dry powder
A stain removing powder capable of absorbing dirt and dampness. Sprinkle over the carpet, leave it to work for a few minutes and then vacuum.

Occasional in depth cleaning

After a few years of use it is useful to give your carpet an in depth clean. We recommend you get it cleaned once every 2 to 3 years. Cleaning companies use different cleaning methods.

- Cleaning with carbonic acid
is only accessible to professional cleaning companies. The carbonic acid is mixed with water and sprayed onto the carpet. The acid forms a thick mousse with bubbles which free the dirt trapped in the fibres and bring it to the surface of the carpet. Immediately after spraying, most of the dirt will be freed and sucked up with the mousse.
Any remaining dirt and dampness are absorbed by a cotton rug. This method uses very little water and soap, therefore the carpet dries quickly and keeps clean longer.

- Injection-extraction
The injection-extraction method can be used for regular or occasional cleaning. This entails mixing a carpet cleaner with water, spraying on the carpet and then vacuuming. It is a very efficient method, however it is important to take care with the type and quantity of used. Too much water or too much cleaning fluid can be risky for your carpet. This method gives very good results for cleaning and renovation.
